EPC Contractor

A reputable EPC contractor requires experienced Quantity Surveyors with a sound knowledge and understanding of contractual matters within oil & gas projects in following specialties:




· Civil & Structural works (1 person)

· Mechanical & Piping works (1 person)

· Electrical & Instrumentation works (1 person)


Job Description& Duties

Your duties as the sole commercial member of staff on site & head office will be to manage the commercial and contractual matters of the project. You will be expected to work under Cost Control Department and will work closely with the Cost Control Engineers, Estimation Engineers, Planning Engineers & Project Managers, advising them on relevant commercial and contractual matters as they arise with a view to protecting the company’s interest.

Your duties as a Quantity Surveyor will vary according to specific project requirements, but are likely to include a combination of:

  • Study engineering drawings and specifications
  • Prepare a 'Bill of Quantities', which lists the individual components required to construct the project
  • Material take-off as per available drawings
  • Check on changes of design to assess the effects on cost
  • Measuring budgeted quantity & assess actual quantity done at project site
  • Prepare planned & actual productivity report
  • Review progress report & advise for invoicing to client
  • Tender evaluation & assessment
  • Interpreting and offering advice on contracts
  • Valuing variation orders
  • Ensuring contractual notices and client entitlements are properly administered
  • Preparation of subcontractor's payment recommendations
  • Undertake feasibility studies to assist in decisions about the worth of a project proceeding

Qualification & Experience Required

  • Formal qualification in Quantity Surveying or similar equivalent is desired; however any technical background with substantial relevant experience would make this less important.
  • A firm understanding of his discipline specialties
  • Extensive experience of taking the same role for reputable EPC or construction contractor for oil & gas projects
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of contractual matters in order to protect the companies position regarding profit margins, risk etc at all times
  • Previous experience of working in middle-east would be an advantage but not a must
  • The successful candidate must be able to work independently with the minimum amount of supervision
  • Having a good attitude & team player to work as a team to achieve project & company’s goals
  • Strong personality & good leadership skills
